How to: Install a modem.
Solution:
Activate the 'Install New Modem' Wizard through the 'Modems' icon in 'Control Panel'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)

3) Double-click the 'Modems' icon. (The 'Modem Properties' dialog box appears.)

NOTE: If no modem is currently installed on the computer, the 'Install New Modem' Wizard starts. Otherwise, you have the option of adding an additional modem.
4) If installing an additional modem, click 'Add...'. (The 'Install New Modem' Wizard starts.)
5) Click 'Next'. (Modem detection and identification begin.)

6) If Windows 95 did not detect your modem:
a) Click 'Next'.
b) To install the modem using manufacturer-supplied drivers or the Windows 95 diskettes:
1] Click 'Have Disk...'. (The 'Install From Disk' dialog box appears.)
2] In the 'Copy manufacturer's files from' drop-down list box, select the drive where the diskettes are located and click 'OK'.
3] Follow the manufacturer's or on-screen instructions to install the modem drivers.
NOTE: If the COM port you want to use is not listed, you will need to add it using the 'Add New Hardware' Wizard.
c) To install the modem using the Windows 95 CD-ROM:
1] Select the modem manufacturer in the 'Manufacturer' list box.
2] Select the modem model in the 'Models' list box.
3] Click 'Next'.
4] Select the COM port to use for the modem and click 'Next'.
NOTE: If the COM port you want to use is not listed, you will need to add it using the 'Add New Hardware' Wizard.
5] If prompted, insert the Windows 95 CD-ROM and click 'OK'.
7) If Windows 95 detected the modem correctly, click 'Next'.
8) Click 'Finish'.
9) Click 'OK' to close the 'System Properties' dialog box.
